Attorney V. Tate Davis

Attorney V. Tate Davis is a Forsyth County resident and a graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was the recipient of a Wake Forest Law Faculty Scholarship.  At Wake Forest, Mr. Davis gained his first experience assisting senior citizen clients by serving as a Student Attorney at the WFU Legal Clinic for the Elderly.

Prior to attending Law School, Mr. Davis served six years in the United States Marine Corps and attained the rank of Sergeant.  His military service included combat tours in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm as well as participation in several peacetime operations overseas.  Mr. Davis was awarded the Arctic Service Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal and Southwest Asia Campaign Medal (3 awards).  Upon leaving active service, Mr. Davis earned dual undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in Political Science and Justice Studies from Frostburg State University in Maryland, where he graduated summa cum laude and was named 1997 Honor Graduate for the Justice Studies program.

Mr. Davis practiced in Medicaid Law, Estate Planning and Social Security Law for law firms in Winston-Salem and Elkin, North Carolina prior to starting his own private practice.  He is admitted to the courts of the State of North Carolina, U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.  Mr. Davis' professional affiliations include memberships in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Elder Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives, the Forsyth County (NC) Bar Association, the North Carolina State Bar and the Disability Law Section of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers.  Mr. Davis currently serves on the Elder Law Section Council for the North Carolina Bar Association and as Secretary for the Local Advisory Council for Legal Aid of North Carolina in Winston-Salem. He is a frequent speaker for community and professional groups and recently authored articles for lawyers on the Basics of Elder Law and Advance Medical Directives.

Mr. Davis is currently writing a book tentatively entitled "The Senior Resource Guide for Northwest North Carolina." The goal of this project is to raise public awareness of life care planning issues for those with Alzheimer's disease and other long-term illnesses in our area of the State. Mr. Davis hopes to create a resource guide that will help seniors locate high quality professionals who can offer assistance in a variety of areas, from financial assistance to specialized geriatric medical care. Mr. Davis' community activities include membership in the Winston-Salem Southbound Model Railroad Club, American Legion Post No. 0061 in Mountain City, Tennessee and the Lewisville (NC) Business and Professional Association.  The formation of Davis Elder & Disability Law Services represents the realization of Mr. Davis' goal of building a law firm exclusively devoted to issues affecting senior citizens and the disabled throughout northwest North Carolina.
